Valley of the Rocks, Devon = Big Sur, California
North Devon, UK
California Dreamin’ of those Big Sur coastal vistas driving along Highway 1? If the Big little Lies titles don’t inspire you enough, there's plenty of films and TV shows which use this stunning part of the States. The Valley of the Rocks is in North Devon, next to Lynton & Lynmouth, and it is always surprising to find how few people know about this part of the South West. We feature a great walk here in our upcoming Little Book of Walks & Snacks – sign up on our home page to hear when you can get hold of yours.

Primrose Hill, London = Central Park, Manhattan, New York
London, UK
Another place to feature in the book from our Enjoy the Outdoors Eco Gift Boxes is a great London viewpoint which can be reached on the Regents Canal. If you were planning a trip to NYC and need that skyline fix, pop up to the top of celeb favourite Primrose Hill. Imagine you are sat in Central Park, gazing at the Manhattan skyscrapers with a greasy pizza the size of a small horse, and you’ll be transported in no time.

Derwentwater, The Lake District = Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Lake District, UK
The Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado has incredible snow-capped peaks and serene lakes. You can enjoy this (in only slightly smaller scale) by visiting the Lake District. There are more lakes and mountains that you can shake a stick at of course, but Derwentwater certainly does the trick – a range of medium to difficult mountain/hill climbs for the best views or just potter around the lakeside path with the summits overhead – you won't be short of photo stops either way.
Malham, Yorkshire = Yosemite National Park, California
Yorkshire Dales, UK
Now, there’s a reason Yosemite and its ultimate rock face of El Capitan are so famous. Nothing quite compares to the jaw dropping scale of the place! Fret not, because a much gentler selection of walks awaits to reach Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. The limestone pavement of Malham Cove still has the drama and quirkiness which you need to be inspired. Lodore Falls can even give you the waterfalls you might be missing out on stateside.
